The Societal Marketing Concept
Introduction
The societal marketing concept affirms that a corporate should make decisions regarding market by putting into consideration the business requirements, consumers’ needs and the long-term interests of a society (Carroll and Ann). The concept ensures that there is a company’s responsibility for social and sustainable growth and development.
A business organization should not ignore the society at large and its vision and mission should also address the welfare of the society. In addition, a company should ensure that there is environmentally friendly and moral action plan and ensure laws are properly implemented. The latter is advantageous to small businesses in the following ways;
Company’s image
The concept helps to create a good image of small businesses. This, in turn, helps the company to get more customers. When the society welfare is put into consideration, people in the society are encouraged to buy from small businesses (Kotler, et.al). This results in rapid growth of small firms. The good image also helps to encounter stiff competition from other businesses.
Increase in sales volume
When the societal marketing concept is applied in small businesses, people are encouraged to buy more and more from these businesses. The concept creates a long-term society relationship (Carroll and Ann). This, in turn, increases sales volume of these firms. It is, therefore, important for small businesses to apply this concept in their operations.
