The Blue Sky Project
1. If you were Garth, how would you respond to the director?
If I were Garth, I would concentrate on improving my shortcomings so that I could have a positive relationship with the other people in the company. Garth seems self-centered from the start because he does not want to talk to other people until they ask him to. Consequently, he fails to back up trust in the institute. It is clear from the case study that he did not make an effort to appear competent by setting aside some time for this. Recognizing one's own weaknesses is essential since it is one of the most important steps in formulating strategies for getting along well with other people. Because it is crucial in any organization that individuals consider the ideas of other people so that everyone feels they are a part of it. On the other hand, I would emphasize on the good aspects of the part that I have performed or the influence that I have had on this project. I would explain to the director the part I played in saving the organization a one-time sum of money by selecting Open Range as the cloud service provider. After all, nobody is perfect, and we should all strive to improve ourselves on a routine basis.
2. What mistakes did Garth make?
The case study demonstrates that Garth made several mistakes. First, he stopped attending any of the casual office lunches. He was confined to his office for the greater part of the day and was unable to engage in conversation with other people as he had done in the past. Moreover, Garth did not cooperate with Jackson in a fair manner. It would be critical for him to utilize Jackson's social abilities to obtain a deeper grasp of the employees' needs. The second mistake he made was focusing only on finding methods to minimize the overall cost of the project. Even if it meant spending extra money, I believe that choosing a cloud service provider with a better level of dependability would make things easier for company employees. He was also unable to manage his relationships with individuals in positions of authority. This became obvious when he tried to interact with people in everyday settings, but he was unable to do so.
