Prophet of the Great Smoky Mountains
The novel "Prophet of the Great Smoky Mountains" written by Mary Noailles Murfree is a replication of the typical feelings that individuals go through whenever their lives are endangered with displacement. The novel reconnoiters the tensions formed by the intruding on the lives of the mountaineers by the Tennessee state authority. This narrative is especially interesting because it brings in Rick Tyler who is a character in the novel. This story mainly dwells on the history of Rick Tyler. Moreover, Rick Tyler is a young chap who is faultily accused of stabbing and consequently choices to run away instead of staying behind to contest his case. The superlative and finer points is narrative is when Tyler turns into a fugitive to battle with the sheriff.
Generally, the novel impression is that it is very emotional, and it explains that threatened individuals will go to any degree so as to safeguard their property and lives. The major characters in the novel are Kelsey, Greene, Dorinda, and Rick Tyler. All of these characters are robust and possess a personal conviction that they demonstrate in the course of their journey. The narrative opens up with a meeting between Dorinda and Tyler in which they are both displayed to recognize each other well. They are conscious of each other’s background and their countryside. Moreover, the story moves to introduce Kelsey who is supposed to be a spiritual man and Tyler has a hint of jealousy towards Kelsey. The story carries on to the sheriff's searching for Tyler and Cajah Green says those who will capture Rick Tyler will be awarded, and blacksmith succeeds to arrest him. However, Kelsey rebukes the act, and the narrative entangles from here (Murfree, 45). Rick Tyler is the character that will be discussed and the American in this man will be understood.
America is all about freedoms and rights for all individuals. The right to worship the way you select, dress how you feel like, and to live the way you wish. As long as it does not have an emotional impact on anyone else. This is something we are viewing more and more in the present day, persons standing up for themselves. In the novel Prophet of the Great Smoky Mountains, characters have unique American features and we are going to examine why Tyler is called a unique America by looking at his behaviors. The more I read though; I started to see Tyler as a true American not through citizenship but just through his unique characters. Tyler holds the conventional yellow eye, the chocolate jeans suit, and the contemplative, slow nature of the normal young male mountaineer.
Rick Tyler is not a dissatisfied but a romantic individual. He confesses his love for Dorinda as the story starts, and he holds a practical approach over the entire thing. He fits into the code in his stubbornness towards Dorinda’s impractical plea, touching, demoting her to women’s good stratum in mountain hierarchy irrespective of the value or cost it himself. However, he possesses some jealousy in him he is not a patient individual. Tyler is ever in fights with the law to the extent that he stays a fugitive, and he is unsuccessful in the suit to acquire Dorinda. He is the theme of two attuned analogs. His fight for Dorinda does not go well as Dorinda sees the traits that he was looking for in Tyler; she found them with Kelsey.
Tyler does not mind being a fugitive life as long he has his freedom to do anything he wants according to how he feels comfortable without being stressed by...
