For this assignment, we have read about several traits and concepts that can influence how students perform in the classroom: grit, fixed and growth mindset, the influence of teachers on students, resilience, and emotional intelligence. Choose one of these traits or concepts, explain it for your readers by using information from the text that explains that trait or concept, and describe how this trait or concept has impacted your motivation as a student. You should choose one trait or concept as your focus, but you can bring in others that feel connected as well if you would like.

Introduction
Maintaining a positive attitude, possessing perseverance and remaining motivated while attending school is imperative in achieving educational success. Nonetheless, what if I inform you that there is a concept that is more critical than these notions, one of which is a game changer, in school and daily life, and that people have complete control over the same (Matthews, 7). This concept is the way people perceive their minds and if our intelligence is something that is constant or it is something that changes gradually.
Individuals who possesses a fixed mindset always perceive that their typical abilities, like their intelligence or the skills that they have, are just fixed attributes. They often use much of their time documenting their intelligence or the skills that they have rather than subjecting them to growth. And the individual who has a fixed mindset has the perception that effort and learning is something that is not needed (Dweck, 5). That is to mean that if a person works hard to attain something, then it does not come naturally. It is apparent that the less effort that people put into doing something will lead to more setback that they will encounter. Growing up, I used to have a fixed mindset in the majority of things that I was doing. This has a negative implication on my school performance since I failed many times.
In a growth mindset, on the contrary, individuals believe that most ordinary skills can be established through hard work and commitment. The use of individual abilities and brains makes the starting point. Individuals who have a growth mindset perceive issues, hindrance, faults or failure as approaches to becoming better as one learns from others (Matthews, 7). When a person puts more efforts into doing something, they have a better chance of growing. Mainly, when students encounter a setback when learning, they would learn more and maybe with a different approach rather than giving up (Dweck, 9). Learners who have a growth mindset see their education and life as something to conquer, that learning process is something that a person needs to put more effort to accomplish what one wants in life.
I was born in China and came to the United States as an international student. During my informative years, I used to be praised by the majority of the people due to my diligence. Gradually I started noticing that I was transitioning from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset during the summer in one of my chemistry class. My class schedule in the summer was rather tight
