Women who impacted my life positively or negatively.
The women who had a significant impacts in my life are who I consider not only my role models but my guardian angles. They are the ideals who I feel encouraged to resemble and follow their footsteps. To me, my mother Taslima Hossain, my grandmother Ayesha Hossain are the positive impacts in my life. My aunt Tamima Hossain, however, has been a negative impact. It’s not a wonder that, everyone complains of her behavior. My mum and grandmother, are the only ones who’ve encouraged me to be myself, and have continuously supported my dreams. All the positivity I feel today comes from each of them from their principles, ideas and actions. However, as much as I’d like to emulate them and their uniqueness, I’d love to follow my own path which will be a reflection of their positive impacts to me.
Amongst them all I admire and love the person who has made my life enjoyable more than any other person. My mother Taslima, a woman of genuine heart who has a smile so inviting that you can’t resist. She has me raised through thick and thin. Looking back, I remember we didn’t have much money and she worked hard for us to be financially stable. Looking at her now I see a woman who is so strong to turn things into gold. I have grown up admiring her for her hard work which changed to work harder in school and find a job so that I could find enough money to create my jewelry business. The most important lesson she is continuously instilling in me is there is more to life than money. She says, “Kindness makes you truly human”. I realize that this is the most essential lesson that makes a human being navigate through life. I have been able to instill kindness in my philanthropic work of helping the needy, sick and elderly by addressing them appropriately and wishing them what I genuinely feel in my heart.
My mother has given me my originality of my character since I was a very critical person growing up. An example of one is when I wanted to bring my camera to school when I was about 11 years old, but she totally rejected the idea. I recall yelling at her about how inconsiderate she was and that it was my camera and not hers. I remember her persuading me that it was a bad idea, which at first I could not agree with. Now, I understand that my desire to take the camera was bigger than my common sense. This was because she explained that in school if I was not responsible for the camera, it could either get stolen or broken by one of my school mates. This way I learned from her that I should be responsible.
She often says, “I am a grandmother and my love for you like having another daughter”. This statement made me realized that she was my biggest supporter. Also, her teaching me how to be independent and creative is something that comes from the bottom of her heart. When you hear about a grandmother you think of a woman with white hair, just sitting around being taken care of. However, she is the exact opposite of that, she is not only a tailor but a jewelry maker who is very outspoken. Being around her makes me feel loved, cared for and even nurtured. She has instilled her sense of creativity and her encouraging me t
