Causes of war
The war in the past had been caused by a multiple of factors or other usual radical causes depending on the prevailing circumstances in the affected areas. The most common causes of war include mysticism, altruism, collectivism, statism, and evasion in the regions prone to war. This paper reveals that regardless of the causes of war, political authorities must face the fact of its causes and create proper means of countering them because most if not all of the causes are politically centered.
Statism is the belief that a political society is allowed to force its citizens to go against their judgment for their intended future benefit. Under this cause of war, people do not take the time to make their judgments but rely on the decisions made by those in political authority. The best example for this cause of war is that of Germany government in the years of 1930s. The Nazi government began in the hopes of reviving Germany politically and financially as part of its reconstruction after the First World War. After Germany citizens had entrusted the Nazi government to bring about political and economic reforms, they couldn't see the facts that were being cultivated to kill innocent people using citizens as the means to accomplish their murderous actions (Znamenski, 537-558). The citizens and those in the Nazi government took orders from top Nazi officials to inflict injury to innocent people and even cultivate a more conducive environment for war than for peace. Innocent children were receiving an inappropriate education in schools that cultivated war then receiving an education which can advance a child's career. Children were given the type of education which discriminated people of other races such as the Jews and Gypsies. The idea that Jews were evil because they had long and bent noses looking like number six was an inappropriate education given to children at schools which aimed at brooding war between Jews and Germany indigenous citizens which happened. Such a civil war led to the expulsion of Jewish students and Jewish teachers from all public schools in Germany. The misleading and untrue information that Nazi government fed its citizens made the war in Germany unending with those opposing the regime were arrested and put in concentration camps where they were tortured to death; others committed suicide in the loss of hope in being free at last (Znamenski, 537-558). If only the citizens had found out the credibility of the claims that were discriminating Jews Gypsies and other people, war could not have broken out and lasted for years of Nazi reign.
Collectivism is a belief that an individual's life belongs to a group of people. Because of such a belief, an individual is forced to think or act by the wish of the group that controls the person regardless of the credibility of the action or its moral value (Ekstrand, 2-14). The best example is the collectiveness experienced during America's civil war in the struggle to free the black Americans from their enslaved lives. The America's civil war was caused by the white men from the southern part who believed that the black people living in America were slaves and for that matter, they should not be given any right of a free person or common American citizens. Such white men consistently opposed any governments which came up with the campaign of setting the slaves free and supported those government which regarded black people as slaves. At the same time, some men from the northern part also believed that regardless of the racial origin all Americans should be free people with blacks included (Ekstrand, 2-14). The northern men supported governments which opposed the black code principles because the codes discriminated the blacks and entitled them to a life of slavery. The northern men collectively believed that all men were free and not to be regarded as slaves while the southern men collectively believed that black people living in America were illegitimate citizens who were to be subjected to a life of slavery. Because of such collective differential believes, the north, south, and slaves included entered the phase of a civil war whose objective was to free up all the black people from slavery (Ekstrand, 2-14). Those opposing the slavery were supported by the President Abraham Lincoln who was assassinated because of the same campaign.
Altruism is the art of serving other people in a way that the one was serving leads into a loss in the act of trying to benefit others. The best example is the involvement of the United States of America in the Vietnam War (Griffin, 3-200). America had no intention of benefiting from the war, but it just wanted to fight for the peace and freedom of the Vietnamese and Chinese communities involved in the war. America was at risk of losing its finances and war soldiers in the war to benefit the Vietnamese and Chinese communities. Such
