There has been unsuccessful implementation of the healthcare reforms in the US till when Obama came to power as the president. The oval office of the former governments had been in constant disagreements thereby making healthcare reformation difficult. Healthcare reforms in US are one of the factors that contributed to the success of Obama into becoming the first black American president. Both the democrats and republicans in US had dissimilar visions with regard to healthcare. Obama’s move towards the implementation of the healthcare reforms faced many challenges but he moved on and never gave up. When things fell out of plan, he designed a strategy to press on and continue the fight.
In 2010, president Obama signed reforms of healthcare into law and these reforms in terms of time were 75 years. This is since when President Franklin Roosevelt of US had been trying to enact the reforms in national healthcare and finally failed. Implementation of these reforms postures problems for Republicans, Democrats and the process of politics (Blumenthal & Morone, p2).
The process of enacting reforms in health requires a show of interest and availability of money. Obama actually was concerned and caring about the reforms in health. This is even noticed in one of his speeches where he quoted his mother being offered an artificial hip at the health center. Despite the hard present economic times in US, president Obama kept pursuing this. There were many challenges like Scott Brown who was a republican after winning the Washington senate seat, he promised to vote against the health bill reforms. However, Obama was not discouraged but rather moved forward. The president took a big risk of being susceptible to losing in the political administration (Blumenthal & Morone, p2-5).
In every year when one rises to power, the oval office is a great hurdle towards the president’s implementation of the health reforms. The "no you can’t president" is a common statement made. In fact, even participants in the same oval meeting disagreed on what had been decided. If there was nobody to chair the meeting, nobody could fix the interpretations that were rival. As soon as Obama won the presidential candidature seat in 2008, the health reform got a different variation from the previous ones (Blumenthal & Morone, p18).
