Private investigator refers to any person who accepts employment or is involved in the business of making investigations with an aim of obtaining crucial information on civil wrongs or crimes, the location, disposition or recovery of stolen goods (Becnel 43). Private investigators are also involved in gathering information concerning the cause of accidents, damages, fires or injuries to individuals and properties, or gathering any evidence that may be presented before any court of law, officer, board or investigative committee. Age
For someone to quality to work as a private investigator, they must be at least 18 years old.
Education
The department of criminal justice system requires private investigators to have at least a high school diploma or its equivalent. It is worth noting that individuals may opt to acquire additional skills to help sharpen their investigative skills (Becnel 52). For example, a private investigator to understand computer forensics, a background in information systems can be very useful.
Experience
Private investigators must have past experience in law enforcement.
Armed vs. unarmed
