Latin America Low Economic Growth: The Causes, Consequences, and Solutions
Economy growth can be viewed in many forms as seen above but we can simply state it as the increase of the aggregate productivity when all the economic units of individual are collected. The increase in the number of services and goods produced per head over a period of time is the measure of economic growth. Characteristics of growth include free trade, patents rights and copyrights, competitive market, efficient financial institutions and strong property rights (McConnell 9). Cuba has seen growth in its economy over the last decades but the observed growth is slow and restrictive. There is a ripple effect on some of the economic activities that lead to the overall growth of the Cuban economy. For example, when businesses begin to make profits, stock prices rise giving the company more capital to invest and hence increasing jobs in the market. More jobs in the market mean more people are in a position to spend on products thus promoting the growth of the economy. There is need to reduce the rigors government, open the economy to international trade and create ties with other countries as opposed to the traditional isolated nation for Cuba to successfully experience economic growth.
