Determining the effect of growth rate on antibiotics efficacy
Abstract
It is believed that the use of antibiotics was once the ultimate way of combating bacteria. However, bacteria have been acquiring genes that are resistant to antibiotics thus rendering the antibiotics inefficient enough to combat the bacterial infections leading to increased mortality rates. An acknowledgment that fast-growing bacteria are killed fast by β-lactam type of antibiotics, has continued to exist over a long period of time.
