Overcoming the Odds
Even if there are advantages and disadvantages of knowing about a child's risk protective factor, the disadvantages should not become a barrier for interaction. The right approach is the key to creating a solid relationship with children. The best way of behaving towards a child is by first improving relationships with their families. Most of the time, people think that it only concerns the child, but the reality is that their parents will give the most profound knowledge about children and people need to listen. Normally, their insights are disregarded, but in order to develop a better understanding of the child, these insights are crucial. If in case issues arise like, being blamed for the child's problems, parents becoming saturated with hearing it from others without getting any result, considered not competent enough, and not wanting to face the problem; there are ways of dealing with this. When children are placed under the care of a teacher, it is their responsibility to give everyone the opportunity to participate, make the physical environment more conducive to positive interaction, be open to program changes and social context, trying a different approach, and stop pro-social skills curricula. All of these factors should be considered so there will be a better interaction with and among the children. When planning out a program, consider that it should tackle cultural influence on cognition, and touch on the variety of learning styles. The relevance of their needs, abilities, and interests should also be paid attention to because these show their individuality and uniqueness from each other. Every child should feel enthusiastic about being in school because this will open their mind and ears to learning and listening. When this happens, children will be more comfortable and there will be a better interaction between them and others.
Stress is not only experienced by adults because it is present in children too. There are demands placed on a child and they are also expected to meet them, which can lead to stress. When kids are in school, they can feel the pressure of their environment and they could experience separation anxiety from their parents. Children are also social beings, but if they are stressed, they can feel isolated and have a hard time concentrating. These are highly significant when a child is trying to cope in school because they need to interact with others and absorb the lesson. When a child is feeling fatigued, experiencing headaches, and having mood swings, they are showing physical signs of stress.
