Abortion
Abortion is the ending of pregnancy by removal of a growing baby from the womb of the mother. Abortion involves different procedures to terminate pregnancy and avoid birth of a baby. Medication and surgical processes are some of the methods used to carry out abortion. Traditional methods such as the use of herbs during pregnancy in most cases results in abortion. Abortion is encouraged by personal circumstances, mothers’ health risks and chances of the baby having abnormal conditions. The cases of abortion increase daily because of people’s ignorance towards family planning education. Abortion procedures have risks to mothers’ physical health when conducted at a later stage of pregnancy. The essay discusses the irrelevance and risks caused by abortion in the society.
Termination of pregnancy to avoid childbirth attributes to denial of human right to life. The life of a human begins at the stage of conception. Single abortion ends the life of an innocent human being. Bailey explained that the surgical procedures cause damage of the womb that may contribute to the mother’s death (67). The growing fetus in the womb attaches to the mother to obtain food for development. Abortion terminates the linkage between the fetus and the mother and may lead to death of the mother. Abortion can contribute to deaths of the two parties, a pregnant mother and the unborn baby (Zastrow and Karen 82). Abortion is a crime because it leads to loss of life that is against the law. Legalization of abortion reduces living chances and limits the right to life for innocent human beings.
Abortion reduces chances of women becoming pregnant and having normal pregnancies in the future. The surgical procedures impairs with the uterus and cervix in female reproductive system. Zastrow and Karen stated that expectant mothers become infertile after abortion reducing the chances for procreation (119). Abortion pills used in medication procedures leads to blood loss. Blood loss causes anemia and may result to death of the mother. Unsafe surgical methods puncture the uterine wall by inducing holes that might contribute to internal bleeding (Farrell 51). The holes on the uterine wall cause a lengthy pregnancy, which result in birth of abnormal children. Unsafe methods might cause uterus removal leading to increasing rates of sterility in women. Abortion does not improve mothers’ lifestyle but contributes to immoral behaviors in the society.
The surgical procedure of abortion causes development of infectious diseases in the female reproductive tract. The infection originates from unsafe procedures, such as the insertion of unsterilized medical instruments into the uterus (Farrell 128). The medical instruments cause uterine bleeding, which might cause death. Incomplete abortion causes pelvic infections because of the remaining of fetal body parts in the uterus that might require several surgeries (Zastrow and Karen 137). Most women use antibiotics to conduct repeated abortion and empty the uterus. The female body reacts to antibiotics causing infections that promote illness and death. Impaired reproductive system contributes to contact of sexually transmitted diseases to sexual act...
