Globally an estimated 350 million people are believed to suffer from some form of depression. Depression is common disorder and ranges from minor mood fluctuations to severe representing a serious mental condition that can lead to death through suicide. There is a general lack of awareness on depression and its symptoms, resulting in confusion on what constitutes "feeling blue" and clinical depression. The paper aims to make the similarities and differences clear.
Feeling blue and clinical depression both result in an individual feeling sadness of "feeling down." An individual will also experience a lack of energy to do some tasks. The 2 conditions can be triggered by major or minor events.
