Peter Singer and Utilitarianism
Euthanasia involves terminating one’s life because of their suffering also that they can be relieved from such suffering. It is either voluntary or involuntary. Voluntary euthanasia is carried out on a person who has made such a request while involuntary euthanasia is that which is forced on a person who has not given consent for their life to be taken (“ADF International”). In this paper, I will argue in support of voluntary euthanasia. I will argue that as long as utilitarian philosophy is considered voluntary, it is something that should be legalized. First I will refer to Peter Singer’s utilitarian perspective of the issue and what makes him to conclude that voluntary euthanasia should be legalized.
