Psychoneuroimmunology is the modern study of the manner in which the psychological processes of the body interact with the immune and nervous systems in the human body. In the book Body and Culture by Gregory Lyons, there is the representation of several kinds of evidences used in field of Psychoneuroimmunology. The book is a collection of several readings and ideas from various researches done by well known authors in this field. Most of these ideas and collections represent a wide influence on media and psychology. In this book, Lyon presents three major forms of evidence towards study in the field with reference to Borysenko’s article Psychoneuroimmunology: Where Mind and Body Meet. The three kinds of evidence include: references to previous research work, technical explanations, and use of examples.
According to me, I believe that the use of ‘technical explanations’ is the best source of evidence that can be used for understanding issues to do with human psychoneuroimmunology. The use of technical explanations helps the researcher dig deeper into his research and come up with convincing facts and explanations to explain any technical explanations (Lyons 25). This approach is necessary because someone will differentiate what appears to be flawed, exaggerated or not true. The use of this method will make it possible to identify any unreliable evidences presented. It will also streamline the given information to make it possible for the learner or reader to follow the concepts in a sequential manner.
During technical analysis and explanations, a researcher is always ready to explain his/her findings and by so doing overcome any counter-arguments or criticisms. Technical explanations therefore offer first-hand understanding in the subject being studied as well as establish the earlier findings that have been conducted by researchers. This kind of evidence is reliable especially when the facts are needed about the topic being studied. Basically, appropriately presented technical information is useful whenever looking for a convincing source of evidence and reliable information (Lyons 23).
It is also necessary to note that the other sources of evidence are also reliable but the use of technical explanations appears more convincing. For instance, use of examples can be useful but fails to give credit for the evidence required. This is because there are other factors capable of affecting the applicability and validity of such examples. As well, the use of reference to previous research is also capable of offering appropriate evidence to the research topic (Lyons 24). However, it will be required that the resea...
