Racism
All people are created equally; nothing can change that but their deeds and actions that determine which path they will be heading to. Racism is the behaviors and beliefs that attaches more value on a particular race and gives them the right to control the other races rights and robs them all that is rightfully theirs based on the fact that the other races have a different skin color or religion, thereby giving the preferred race the right to control their own destiny and their property. In olden days racism was practiced openly by many countries. In the American society African Americans were used to provide forced labor on white owned plantations. In fact Africans were the commodity that was sold on slave markets in those days. Nowadays, we think it is extinct but it is still practiced but so far it has been insidious. Despite the ugliness of the name of this trait, many people are still practicing it. In addition over the years, we can note that racism based on the color of the skin has become more pronounced in modern day society.
Because race closely relates to culture and includes religion, racism is a form of discrimination that may also portray a certain religion in some way, especially if this religion is predominantly racial based. A good example would be Islam as a religion that is predominantly embraced by the people of the Arabic origin. Therefore judging certain people that they are deceived based on the religion that they worship is one of the worst kinds of racism because it makes you hate a lot of people although they may not have cause any harm to you anything as what has been done by people belonging to your religion. Islamphobia is a term used to explain feelings against Muslims or to demonize Muslims. Lately this point of view has become stronger after terrorist attacks on America where many innocent people were killed. Is it possible to judged and discriminate against millions of people of a certain race calling them terrorists? Islamphobia that is the result of racism is unreasonable and should be completely eradicated from society. Nobody wants to judge someone based on their religion, because it does not make sense to judge a person and linking his or her actions to his or her religion. Racism is therefore one of the worst evils to ever affect human kind.
The mind cannot imagine how it is horrible, how it is painful and unjust. White people, Black people, Asian, Hispanic, and Arabs are all names that describe people based on their skin color. We hear these racist names every day and everywhere, such as in offices, at airports, trains and the only places. However in schools it is against policy to show any form of racism even by uttering certain words that are deemed racist. Therefore calling people by their skin color is not something cool, as long as we are not making fun although when we don’t mean it is fine. Two weeks ago, in a soccer field, the "N" word was used to refer to me multiple times in one minute, it is weird and funny because people kept using it for anything and anytime, not paying attention to the punishment that one gets when he or she uses such words. We all remember the students from Santaluces high school who was talking about black people, how bad they are and how many they are in the same school. Certainly whether black or white, one should not prevent you from enjoying the same rights. I was shocked when I discovered that using terms like ‘chocolate guy or girl’ was meant to insult a certain race based on skin color and not a nice compliment as I had earlier thought.
In the US racism appears to be most conspicuous in society partly because of the immigrant trends and slavery that characterized an important part of the American history. After the explorers landed in America they discovered huge tracts of land that could sustain the economy of their mother countries through extensive agricultural practices. It was this need that brought the African American ancestry into the US. The African was brought in the US as a slave to work for the American colonialists most of whom were from Britain. The notion of Africans being inferior based on skin color eventually permeated into the American society. Certainly other races also immigrated to the US after the explorers and colonialists opened it up. The natives like the American Indians were targeted and marginalized during this colonization. After centuries of this build up the American society became highly diversified in terms of the cultures. In fact it remains so until today because in America you ar...
