An individual can acquire citizenship by birth, duties and the associated benefits. Therefore, citizenship forms the basis of fundamental rights derived from the constitution and is commonly referred to as the right to universal human rights. Citizenship is generally divided into two distinct types including either birthright or naturalization. Under birthright citizenship, an individual is defined as a U.S citizen if they were born within the boundaries or born beyond the borders to US citizens. Under naturalization, an eligible legal immigrant applies and is accepted for registration. This paper thus determines the functions of citizen participation and the representation functions and how an individual attain citizenship in the newly formed island Blue Ivy.
The kind of privileges only citizens of Blue Ivy can receive include the political rights in which they can elect office and are also free to vote as they are eligible. They might be citizens by birth hence become automatically eligible to voting, even they might be citizens through naturalization, and that earns they are legal migrants who have to fulfill all the requirements for citizenship hence become eligible voters, unlike noncitizens. Additionally, citizens have travel rights as they can enter and leave the country as they please. Locke &Gough (27) also highlights the idea of natural law and natural rights in which individuals have the rights to basic need needs such as food and even right to own land hence the need for fair representation to advocate for these rights. There are possibilities that the government can violate an individual's property rights by introducing high taxes (Locke &Gough 140). It is thus essential that Blue Ivy constitution consider areas where such violation can arise from and block all the loopholes for the citizens to enjoy their rights.
