Terrorist attacks
There has been a rise in the events of terrorist attacks in the recent past around the world. Terrorism involves the use of violence with the aim of intimidating the government. The attacks create an atmosphere of fear among the general population because it is a threat to the security. The large proportion of terrorist attacks in the United States is perpetuated by the far right wing violent extremists groups while the other fewer perpetrators of close to 30% are carried out by the radical Islamists violent extremists (CNN Para 1).
The most recent attacks in the United States were the ramping vehicle attack which took place in new york city in October 2017 (CNN Par 11). During the attack, a total of 11 people sustained serious injuries, and eight people died. This was an unfortunate event that took away the lives of the people of New York. The attack was carried out by an ISIS-inspired man who was driving a rented home depot flatbed pickup truck. The pick-up ramped on the other vehicles that were on the cyclist’s path and runners path. The attack was precisely in the west street of the lower Manhattan. The attack was approximately several blocks from the National September 11 memorial and museum. The perpetrator of the offence is Sayfullo Saipov (CNN Para 11)
