This idea has transformed vast majority of Western human advancement. As the pace of improvement appears to have picked up the pace for few decades with a surprising development of significant innovative and experimental leaps forward, the idea of progress is under minute observation (Clifford, 74). For valid reasons, an increasing number of individuals voice their worry about the moral, social and natural outcomes of such improvement and the abundances of today's buyer society. Similarly, the idea of progress has continuously kept the western world in the hot pursuit of producing more. There are multiple implications of the notion of progress in shaping the West of today. On one hand, this approach has resulted in astounding development and conveniences. On the contrary, however, we have fallen victim to a brutal campaign which only considers progress and development at the forefront. The human feelings and emotions have gone to the background in this respect. The ideals of democracy, freedom of speech, the free market has bestowed people with a tremendous amount of wealth and opportunities (Inglehart, 11). Conversely, this idea has led to a desire for more material. The family structure and emotional bonding which got considered as a foundation of society are absent now. The idea of progress is not new and various philosophers over the centuries have contributed to it. We must not forget that despite its shortcomings, the world on its current development owes much to the western world. The rapid advancement in technology has reduced the world to a small village. The continued progress has immensely influenced the economy of the west (Morrison 68). More wealth created within the shortest time span in the history of man.
