In both, the beginning is never perfect, in Anne Lammot’s article; she says that most good writing skills mostly start with first efforts which are often dreadful. Additionally, she adds that none of the great and excellent writers she knows who write beautifully writes elegant first drafts (Lamott, 2005). Mitch Hedberg joked on how he wrote a script and gave someone to read, the person read it and asked him to rewrite the script (Pudding tv Toy, 2016).
People should believe in their abilities. Nobody knows what he or she is doing until he does it. Lammot’s article states that very few writers really know what they are doing until they have done it (Lammott, 2005). Hedberg joked that even if his fingers were cut off, he will still type 100 words per minute (Pudding tv Toy, 2016).
In both, they trust the process due to experience; Lamott refers to a time when, through experience, she eventually let herself trust the writing process (Lammott, 2005). Hedberg being a veteran comedian believes, he says that he is going to do any joke and the audience will make the “special” because they will love the jokes (Pudding tv Toy, 2016).
Lammot insists on doing something as many times until it is perfect. Most of the good writing started with first efforts which were terrible. There is need to identify where to start. As such, the draft that is first created tends to be that of the child while the second one is regarded as an up draft – it needs to be fixed. It is important to give a narration that is very accurate (Lammott, 2005). The final draft is the dental one. Hedberg does not put effort in anything he does, he jokes that he can’t floss, and he admits that quitting smoking is as hard as flossing (Pudding tv Toy, 2016).
