Since the advent of human history man always had something to bother himself, the cave dweller had a cave to hide, but it always bothered him about food, once agriculture took over man had other problems to deal with, one of them, of course, was construction. Now, he could not live in a cave, and to ensure farming for himself, he had to live near water and agricultural land, so with this advancement, he got wealthy enough to upgrade his living standards. Petrarch an Italian poet and scholar referred to as the ‘dark ages’ in the medieval period but modern-day scholars know it was not as dark. One reason for this claim is the design and construction.
Man continued to progress from the dark ages to the present day in all walks of life and construction is no exception. However, roses always come with thorns, so is the case with advancements. They come with both pros and cons. Man who used to hide under the shelter of leaves and twigs moved to big buildings of bricks and concrete only to feel safer. Here he also faced destruction, especially when addressing the forces of nature. Man who used to hide under leaves and twigs was not as vulnerable to loss and damage by earthquakes, tsunamis, and floods as the man in the dark ages. Man gradually advanced in site selection, and shelter with an ever rising issue
