The world continues to experience an escalated level of poverty with a majority of people living under the poverty line. This cuts across both the developed as well as the developing world with some societies in the western world finding it hard to go without at least working in multiple places due to the high cost of living. It is also sad to see how other societies, especially in Africa, go without adequate needs with things like basic infrastructure as well as water being scarce. Such a challenge is not limited to the rural areas where some struggle to survive but also rampant in cities with the poor finding themselves homeless thus are forced to live on the streets.
For those visiting such cities, one is bound to find some sleeping on the pavement and looks so disheartening. Despite witnessing the growing trend of urbanization, one is also bound to find hips of trash scatted all over town with gigantic buildings imaging a sign that the level of awareness among policymakers could, on the other hand, have failed to address such needs as highlighted by Easterly William.
