Response to a senator's public post, rallying for the public to support his proposal for a ban on same-sex marriage:
Your statements hold no legal ground since they are based on the presumption of the validity of two baseless beliefs.  1:  You presume that your religious beliefs are based on proven facts.  2:  You presume that the role of government is to abide by your religious beliefs.
The role of government is to define, and establish the rights of individuals, as well as to enforce, and protect those established rights, for the sake of individuals, society at large, within this nation, and within the world, at large.  The formation of the United Nations was brought about so that individual nations may take measures to establish, and ensure the safety, and protect the rights of individual citizens within other nations, around the world, at large.
The government did not make it illegal to kill, or steal, simply because your bible preaches that those are wrong.  The government does not base its principles on your bible, or any other religious source.  The government establishes its tenets by democracy, by votes, by what society at large agrees upon as fair and just practice.  If the bible were to dictate what should be considered wrong and right in society, there would be no violation with a six-year-old child being sold as a wife to be married to a fifty-year-old man.  The bible does not establish the rights of females, as females are viewed as the property of their male relatives.  Nor does the bible establish an age of consent.

The definition of a fact is something that is scientifically proven.  Throughout history, many a man has claimed to be sent by God, to be a prophet of God, and to speak in the name of god.  All the people whom I have personally encountered who make claims as such are mentally unstable, delusional individuals.  Claims of supernatural feats do nothing to establish an individual as superior. either.  Just open the Guinness Book of World Records, and you will have a vast array of documented cases where individuals are able to perform at will, and on command, superhuman feats, such that are not considered possible by the average human being.  This does not give these individuals any right to dictate to others what should and should not be.
What you choose to believe as your personal moral guide, is of no effect, and of no consequence to anyone at large.  If you choose to fashion your life according to the dictates of a bible, or according to the dictates of any other personal belief, that is of no impact to anyone but yourself.  No one is required to cater to your whims, and pacify your wishes of conformity to your personal lifestyle.  And should your personal lifestyle choices clash with what the government has established as just and fair in this current day society, all your claims, rationalizations and defenses will be null and void, whether you quote your bible, or anyone else.  Reality is that there is a clear separation between state and church.  One has nothing to do with the other whatsoever, other than that the state has every right to override any, and every unjust act that is claimed in the name of god or church.
The government has no basis or reason to deny any individual the right to live as they choose to, love whom they wish to, establish their household as they see fit to, and bequeath their assets as they desire to, so long as they are not infringing upon the freedoms and rights of others.  That, just that, is the role of government!  As long as two consenting adults choose to form a union, and express their commitment within a legal context, and with a legal contract, who is the government, who is anyone to stand in the way of that!?!  As long as two consenting adults choose to form a union, and express their commitment as a legal contract, who is the government, who is anyone to deny any individual their equal rights, based solely on discrimination due to sexual orientation!?!
It boggles the mind that an accredited lawyer, and senator, an affirmed representative of the legal system, who studied the law, who passed the bar exams, and took an oath to uphold and protect the law, is still under the presumption and fantastical delusion that the law is based on upholding their personal religious whims, rather than the established legal rights of society.  In conclusion, for the sake of this argument, your Santa is as good as my tooth fairy, in a court of law.
I trust that our lawmakers understand the role of the government,  and can distinguish their responsibilities as lawmakers, not allowing personal religious ideation to interfere with their legal duties.
(Below is the senator’s post, asking the public to support his bill proposing a ban on same-sex marriage.)
Dear Mr. President, Senators of the Republic, Congressmen, local Sangguniangs, fellow Filipinos:I am writing to you all as a particle of sovereignty, appealing to all the leaders of the land, as well as to all our people in this our beloved nation the Philippines. There seems to be a gallop like a thundering herd of a marauding army to impose same-sex marriage on the land, with all its underpinnings, implications, philosophy, and belief system. In a nation where two of its most predominant religions, Christianity and Islam, that both consider same-sex marriage as an abomination, there seems to be no stopping to the march of this proposed legislation.Yes, in a democracy and pluralistic society, there is a need to co-exist and respect one another regardless of religion, creed, belief, or color of skin. Because of that, though many find it tragic and sad, we respect people for what they are or who or what they think they are inspite of who they really are biologically. We do not condone their ridicule or persecution, and we do not encourage their bullying. We work with them, live with them, relate with them, in utmost respect and civility. But to recognize and protect by law same-sex union, or gender preference, or cohabitation, and proposing to put them in the same plane and level as man-woman, husband-wife relationship which is what the God we worship ordains and directs, and to punish those who will not dignify this new anti-God proposition, is something this nation will hopefully prevent or avert.I will leave the Constitutional and legal arguments to the experts. I will just appeal to WHAT WE ALL ALREADY KNOW, in the hope that we will soul-search and have a timely awakening:
First, there is a God, and that is a fact. More than all the arguments showing the existence of God and His identity, the debate was decisively settled when Jesus Christ came to earth 2,000 years ago. He claimed He was from God, and was one with God, and he who has seen Him has seen God. Amidst insult and ridicule, he validated his claims by walking on water, rebuking the storm, healing the sick, and raising the dead. And to finally settle all doubt, he said crucify the Son of Man (referring to Himself) and in three days He will rise from the dead (please see Mark 9:31).
They crucified Him and three days later He rose from the dead. So incontrovertible was the evidence of His resurrection that his erstwhile enemies, the Romans, later on made Him the center of the calendar system. All things before Him are B.C. (Before Christ), and all things after His ascension are A.D. (Anno Domini, in the year of our Lord). He is the very center of the calendar that governs us all…
And during all His earthly life, Jesus the Christ QUOTED ONLY ONE AUTHORITY – THE BIBLE. He NEVER cited any other book, or writing, or authority. He always said, “Behold, it is written…”
Now this God, and the Bible which tells us the mind and heart of God, is very clear on the subject matter of same sex marriage. First, we affirm that we are all sinners (Romans 3:10, 23), that God loves all people (John 3:15, Romans 5:8, 2 Peter 3:9, 1 John 4:10).
However, we equally affirm that the same God Who loves all people and all sinners, also said that there are only two sexes, male and female (Mark 10:6, quoting Genesis 5:2), and that having sex with a person of the same gender, or living with another person of the same gender as one&rs...
