Should same sex marriage be legalized? Why or why not?
Same sex marriages have drawn controversy in modern society due to different opinion people hold. I feel legalization of these marriages should go ahead without much friction. Discussed below are some factors I considered before making a judgment.
Everyone has rights. Right to live, worship, and engage in marriage among others. Same sex marriage can be treated as a way of life of some individuals. There is need to appreciate and accept diversity in universe. People have different ways of life and different tastes. We therefore should learn to embrace this, and include it as a right to these persons.
Secondly, we need harmony in the society. Feeling discriminated or any sense of prejudice simply creates unwanted tension. The moment we illegalize these sort of marriages, a party is deemed misfit. They will find the society miserable and maybe prefer being behind bars. Is this necessary? We are all human and should accept everyone indifferent of our lifestyles.
