Experimental Measurement and Error Analysis (Lab Report Sample)

Instructions:

In this lab report we will Do following methodology:
 Verifying about we have all equipment mentioned in material required.
 With the help of ruler, vernier caliper to measure length and mass of given objects.
 Recording data for each in table.
 Calculating density and then % error.
 Entering data in equation of error which is propagating with the help of given value-data.
After finding results for every part we wIll answer Quest given below:
1. In the context of physics measurements, what is parallax?
During the experiment the parallax was observed to be distortion. We observed this during the video of ruler placement because of bending of light through lens of camera.
2. What is the resolution of the ruler, the Vernier Caliper, and the mass scale? Include units in your answers.
Ruler resolution was 0.1cm, mass scale 0.001g and vernier was 0.001cm.
3. Based on your results, which object (i.e., cube, solid cylinder, hollow cylinder, or sphere) had the most accurate density?
Cube was accurately measured with percentage error of 3.4% only.
4. Overall, did the ruler or Vernier Caliper produce the most accurate densities? Justify your answer.
Cube was accurately measured with percentage error of 3.4% only.
5. Overall, were your densities accurate or inaccurate? Justify your answer.
Out of three objects we measured only for sphere having error greater than 10% which is inaccurate while all other are accurate.
