Introduction
The movie Straight out of Campton is a biographical movie that was produced in 2015. The plot of the film regards the rise and fall of a gangster rap group titled N.W.A. The story has been drawn from the lives of the hip hop rappers Dr. Dre, Eazy E and Ice Cube. Though the actual characters did not take part in acting, Dr Dre and Ice Cube have taken a role in producing the film (Herman et al. N.p). The film has been named after the debut studio album N.W.A's 1988. Since its production, it has received positive critiques having been nominated in the academy award for the award of best original screenplay.
The film is a heart-rending one with exhilarating scenes. Throughout the film, there are well executed scenes of action as well as scenes that are quiet and tender. This is a good thing depicting how actual life is, through the film, the audience are able to see the hard and cruel side of life and the other tender and quite side field with joy and happiness (Hoffman, N.p). Through this movie, the filmmakers have made a ferociously political film through the use of the stylistic device of talking back to screen to bring out the story of the influential rap group. Also, through the movie, it is evident that the biopic genre was already there even before the onset of the Marvel universe.
This is a masterpiece work of art that has incorporated different aspects of American historic life. Through the movie, the audience gets to understand how life was during those years when N.W.A group members were growing up. The aspects of race, culture and brutality of the police that has reigned in America for a very long time are shown through the movie to show the audience how life for the African Americans has been in America since the 1980s.
