Why Ramon Sampedro should be allowed to die
Ramon was involved in an accident and now suffers from the quadriplegia; the paralysis of all the four limbs that is caused by either brain damage, or the spinal cord injuries. Any person in this kind of a situation demands a specialized care for him to gain peace in this condition. In this case, he requires an assigned doctor, a caregiver, and a special diet. The long-term care involved in taking care of such a patient is very high. Ramos has been in this current state for three decades. For now, his family is unable to fulfill the demands of Ramon based on the level of wages the working members of the family receives.
Ramon has endured pain and suffering in the last three decades; the situation continues to be worse as the demands of the family keeps on rising and the level of discomfort increasing with age. There is nothing about life that he is enjoying; he cannot move on his own, there is no hope of him regaining, or living the life that other people live. In every hour of the past thirty years, Ramon has continuously been affected psychologically; the condition might be worse as he enters the elderly stage.
