1 Overview
This report provides a brief but comprehensive design of an expressive interface that generally will offer customers the ability to carry out their grocery shopping online. While outlining the design specific an emphasis on the emotional interaction between the system and the user will be seen where their attributes (users) will be translated into the different elements of the user interface (Liu, 2013).
Moreover, this design report will highlight all the necessary parameters required to achieve the goals of the user interface i.e. an interactive and collaborative design that enhances user experience. In addition to this, this report will elaborate on the usability requirements and their evaluation tactics.
1 Scope
The design will consider a wide scope of users and thus will employ holistic methods to define its parameters, these methods will include a cognitive process where the expected user’s outcome (what they can and cannot do) will be defined. Therefore, the project will cover the entire cognitive design process from user perceptions and attention to decision making (Usability, 2017).
2 Objectives, Outputs and Targets
An overall goal of enhancing user experience is set where the designed user interfaces will capitalise on the benefits of e-commerce to boost business outcomes. Moreover, it will apply the concepts of HCI to engage the users at a cognitive and emotional level
1 User Requirements
While employing the concepts of a user-centred approach, the user’s functional requirements were determined. The user’s attitudes, Behaviour and cognitive processes were determined using focus groups, interviews and surveys (Carleton, 2013).
Functional Requirements
1 A system that allows a user to view the available groceries.
2 An interactive design that highlights the price, size and age of products.
3 An interface that gives feedback hence guide customers in their purchases.
4 Finally, a system that distinguishes between the orders identified and those that are purchased.
2 Objectives determined from requirements
Based on the user requirements identified above, the following objectives are set:
1. A viewing tab to enable the users to view the orders, moreover, it will be supplemented with a search tab in case the user desires specific products. Furthermore, the associated buttons i.e. search and view buttons.
2. A description tab to highlight the product’s attributes i.e. age, size and price etc. Moreover, it will highlight the chosen orders.
3. Preview feature on all active buttons and interface tabs to guide the user to the anticipated action.

3 Outputs and Targets
Output
2 View products – A wide range of products are available hence multiple pages with the final one indicated by a pop-up menu to highlight the end and outline the next possible actions.
3 Purchase products – A tab highlighting the price and user payment details/options. The end is highlighted by a verification enquiry (chose to accept or reject).

5 Success Criteria
Several targets have been established above, their completion rate will outline one of the assessment criteria of the project’s success. Secondly, user’s reaction in terms of the system’s performance will also serve as success criteria. Finally, the ability to achieve the usability goals i.e. interactive, error free, emotional (feedback) and consistency etc. (Liu, 2013).
3 Key Assumptions
1 Users want to make their grocery purchases online.
2 People prefer making their orders from any location.
3 Users carry their mobile device everywhere they go.
4 Design Aims
An interactive design considers a lot of variables from the expected users who in this case are user below the age of forty as they have the highest interaction with mobile devices, to their preferences. To meet these requirements an interaction design employing the four major design steps will be used. First, determining the requirements through cognitive approach (understand all users and their needs). Secondly, develop different design alternatives based on the defined preference requirements. Thirdly, deliver simple prototypes and finally, evaluate the overall design.
