James Rochfold’s video lecture on the class, ‘’Genesis: The Conflict over Creation’’ presents an interesting episode to assess Old Earth Creation views. At the center of it all is that everything including Literary-Framework theory, Theistic Evolution and Gap Theory fits within this view except Young Earth Creation views. For clarity, he particularly affirms the popular John Collin’s analogical day’s position. He also invites supportive analogical views from scholars R. Kent, Herman Bavinck, Vern Poythress and many more.

During my research on various interpretations of Genesis 1:1, I was lucky to discover this recent comparative analysis of the views of John Walton and John Sailhamer. Sailhamer presents Gen 1:1as a lateral event that preceded the rest of creation over an indeterminate block of time. Walton says that the creation in Gen 1:1 should be understood as an assigning function by Walton. The reason why this as a non-traditional resource is because Sailhamer’s case proved to be a stronger view.
