The Rwandan Genocide.
A genocide refers to the massive and intentional killing of people more specifically based on their nation, religious, race or ethnic groups. Genocide is a hybrid word obtained from to Greek words, “geno” which refers to people or races and “cide” meaning the act of murdering, thus, genocide is, therefore, the act of murdering people in large numbers. What happened in Rwanda is undoubtedly a Genocide since, numerous people were slaughtered and killed based on their races with the Tutsi as the targeted race. For are genocide to take place, eight steps which are predictable though unchangeable takes place. However, if preventive measures are employed at whichever stage, they can prevent it. The process of a genocide occurrence is procedural and linear thus, the later stages are dependent on the earlier ones with all the eight phases occurring to make it a genocide. The eight processes include classification, symbolization, dehumanization, organization, polarization, preparation, extermination and denial. Aforementioned therefore concludes that whatever happened in Rwanda in April 1994 is a genocide since all the eight processes followed each other procedurally.
