The short film Sing that won the Oscar award is about an elementary school children’s choir based in Hungary in the early ’90s. The director narrates the story from Zsófi’s (young new student) perspective that has great enthusiasm towards singing in the school choir. However, Miss Erika forbids her from singing aloud and instructs her to mime instead. On the same note, it becomes clear that Miss Erika has forbidden a bunch of the students from singing aloud although the choir wins several awards and everyone gets rewarded equally with chocolate (Deák).
