Renal Failure
Introduction
Renal failure is a condition that is caused by the failure of kidneys to function their functions appropriately. Kidneys are among the most important organs in the body that help ensuring the cleaning waste products from the blood. They also help in balancing electrolyte, maintaining blood pressure and red blood cells production Kim, H. J., & Vaziri, N. D. 2010). (Results due to the strain of the kidneys by other conditions and diseases for instance insufficient blood flow a condition to the kidneys. Most of the people affected fall in the ages of 60 and older with most cases reported more since 1980s (Bendz, H., Schön, S., Attman, P. O., & Aurell, M. 2010). Foods and people’s lifestyles determine the chances and likelihood of one being affected. Proper diets, more fluid intake, and regular exercises minimize the possibilities of an individual to contract the disease. Early detection and diagnosis is an important step in ensuring the management and treatment of the condition (Charpentier, G., Riveline, J. P., & Varroud-Vial, M. 2015). Presently it is easy to treat with new facilities.
Etiology and Risk Factors of Renal Failure.
Renal failure is not a direct occurrence disease however, it if facilitated by other diseases. The people affected from failure of the kidney and first suffered from these two major conditions:
1 Inadequate circulation of blood to the kidney.
The reduction of circulation of blood to the kidney does lead to failure of the kidney. These conditions and diseases that leads to inadequate flow of blood to the kidney are; diseases of the heart, heart attack, dehydration, failure of the liver and some reaction from allergy. All these conditions minimize the chances of blood from reaching the kidney hence leading to renal failure (Kim, H. J., & Vaziri, N. D. 2010).
2 Problems of eliminating of urine in the kidney.
Kidney do overload from the buildup of toxic substances that are caused due to the failure of kidney to do away urine from the body. Urine passageway are blocked by specific cancers. For example, colon, bladder, prostrate and cervical cancers. Other conditions that tamper with the urination process and causes failure of the kidney are: prostate enlargement, destruction of nerves that have control of the bladder, kidney stones and clotting of blood in the urinary tract (Kim, H. J., & Vaziri, N. D. 2010).
Other causes of renal failure are infections, alcohol and drugs, some antibiotics, vacuities, lupus, glomerulonephritis, hemolytic uremic syndrome, multiple myeloma, scleroderma, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura and drugs from chemotherapy (Bendz, H., Schön, S., Attman, P. O., & Aurell, M. 2010).
Pathophysiological Process
There are pathophysiological processes that a body undergoes and leads to different to renal failure. The inadequate circulation of blood to the kidney does lead to acute perennial kidney failure. This is when toxic material cannot be filtered from the blood, thereby leading to a minimum blood circulation. When this condition continues for a given period of time usually 3months without treatment, the kidney loses its size and do not perform its functions as required (Martín–Llahí, M., Guevara, M., Torre, A., Fagundes, C., Restuccia, T., Gilabert, R., ... & Fernández, J. 2011).
Physical effects like for example accidents leads to damage of the kidney. Shock, severe bleeding and glomerulonephritis causes ischemia that makes the kidney to experience a direct trauma and this causes renal failure. When this shocks continues and without being treatment it leads to frequent causing lack of oxygen to the renal parts leading to chronic intrinsic kidney failure.
Without any further treatment the tracts of the urine will be completely blocked hence making a person not to urinate. Due to the pressure exerted, this destroys the kidney and a person would need a kidney transplant. This condition is known as chronic post-renal kidney failure.
Clinical Signs, Symptoms, and Complications
Renal failure has many signs and symptoms that can easily be observed by the affected individual. At rear, cases do the symptoms not visible; however, a person experiencing failure of the kidney do experiences the following symptoms (Bendz, H., Schön, S., Attman, P. O., & Aurell, M. 2010). Like for example:
* A reduction of the total amount of urine a person produces in a day usually 60ML from 1Litre
* When a person experiences regular nausea then definitely he/she might be a patient.
* Some individuals who do go at a coma are likely patients from renal failure.
* The patients do experience seizures.
* Individual experiencing pressure and chest pains are likely to be having renal failure
* Extreme fatigue or drowsiness is also a sign.
* Individual reduction of breathing.
* Bulging of ankles, feet and legs are caused by letdown of the kidney to do away with wastewater
.
Diagnostic
Several procedures are used in kidney diagnosis (Kim, H. J., & Vaziri, N. D. 2010).
. These tests include:
1 Urinalysis.
This is whereby a sample of urine is tested in case of abnormalities, for example sugar or protein that are in the urine. By doing...
