Providently, meat processing is also focused on meeting the demands of the global food market, which is now soaring at an unprecedented rate. This proposal offers a consummate discourse on the variables required to set up a food processing and distribution centre in Nairobi. The work outlines the statutory requirements involved in establishing an abattoir within the environs of Nairobi County, and the related institutional requirements in establishing the facility.
Statement of purpose
Establishment of an ultramodern, commercially oriented abattoir within Nairobi country is the focus of the proposal. The facility will be strategically located at a locus that aids in its optimal operations. The establishment must take into account the conceptual framework entailed in establishing business joints within any economic construct.
The abattoir seeks to establish itself as an effective beef processing facility and value addition of beef products. It will engage in slaughtering of the animals, preservation of the beef, packaging of the products, and the eventual distribution of the products. Depending on the market demands, the abattoir seeks to offer value addition to the meat products with a view to enhancing the profit margins. Moreover, the facility will also be responsible for finding market for their products.
Ownership and legal structure
The establishment is entirely a private entity with a very firm legal background. Technically, the operational template is derived from the concept of public-private partnership; this infers that the running of the facility will be done through a collaborative approach between the government, the residents, and the directors. The abattoir shall be solely under the ownership of the registered directors as established under the companies act in the laws of the republic of Kenya. However, the collaborative approach is an intelligible management concept meant to imbibe efficiency in running the facility.
The operational manual of the facility will be based entirely upon the legal provisions of the relevant regulatory bodies I the industry. The legal provisions provided by the health sector for instance, will be the central legal requirement of its operations. In addition, evaluation by the Kenya bureau of standards will be critical in the operation of the facility. Compliance to all these regulatory bodies will be imperative to the operations of the facility. The company will have intermittent reviews of these standards as provided for in the law as a means of enhancing the level of its operations and as a modality of complying with the statutory requirements by the regulatory bodies.
Location
Being cognisant of the role that location play in business domains, the selected location of the facility is based upon a very extensive evaluation of the geographical area of operation. The focus of the facility is to meet the demands of the market, but also operate within the established budgetary allocation. After all the evaluations, the proposed site will be in Narok County, a two-hour drive from Nairobi County, the nucleus of the market.
