Target Stores
Consumers stream into the Target stores because here they have a feeling that they are getting value for their money. Target’s corporation has the slogan ‘Expect more-pay less’. Interacting with the staff at target, I learnt that the store chain gives back to the community a good chunk of their income amounting to around 5 percent of its income. Target focuses on differentiation in the market to attract many customers and keep them. Another way Target intends to attract and keep new customers is "their use of great service and great designs that will attract the customers" (Robert, 2006).
By observing the customers coming in and leaving the store, I noticed that most of them came from the store happy, energetic and smiling. I approached one customers to confirm to me the actual reason he was smiling and he was quick to pinpoint that the staff at Target were warm and welcoming, they had good arrangement of their items on the shelves for convenience and also that the store was clean with very clean bathrooms. Target stores provide an exquisite atmosphere to the customers, one that is progressive and stylish. "Target stores have wide and spacious aisles between the various shelves with attractive displays and promotions" (Roger, 2012). Target stores parking area is two ways allowing for easy navigation.
Apple Stores
The central element for the attractiveness of the store is the atmosphere that it provides to the customers. Customers at Apple stores are a happy bunch, the interiors are airy and have attractive lighting. The stores are set up in such a way that they can accommodate visitors into the store who wish to look for a gadget that will suit their needs (Dan, 2010). Apple also has a signature glass staircase in most of their stores; this kind of architectural design makes a customer feel they are actually in a social event rather than a retail store. " adds to the uniqueness of the store hence can even be used an attraction to the stores for new customers as well as maintaining uniformity which gives the customers a sense of good management" (Roger, 2012). The apple stores allow potential customers to come into the stores and use their iPhones or iPads that are on display. Potential customers touch these gadgets that are on display; this will actually enable customers determine whether to make a purchase or not to depend on their needs. Apple stores have a casual feeling to it that is almost kind of carefree; "this is quite efficient in ensuring that the customers are comfortable while in the stores" (Robert, 2006).
