In these hypotheses, the top green companies will be compared to their profitability as a form of research to explain whether or not; the top green companies across the world like Nike spend more money in maintaining the Eco than the less green companies consequently making less profits. To establish the correct stand in this matter, an explanation will be made using the limited available data for instance the 2016 Green Rankings. These top companies will be compared against their finances across three categories each having 50 companies. The first category will consist of 50 companies which are in the sector of consumer discretionary in USA. The second category will consist of companies in the Energy sector in USA. The third category will consist of companies in the industrial sector in USA. Companies will be sampled from the three sectors and their annual profits, waste disposal and their green value compared to establish whether those companies with high eco management skills make lesser profit than those with low eco management practices since they spend most of their profits in facilitating these eco management practices.
In the first category, the Nike Company can be analyzed. It’s in the second position in eco system management with a green score of more than 80%. In the year 2015, the company made a profit of $ 7.8 billion. Its audit score in 2016 was 5.00%. Its Green revenue was 13.00% and a sustainability themed commitment of 5.00 %. It has a carbon productivity of 15.00% and a waste productivity of 14.40%. In the second category, Tesoro Corp limited can be taken as a good sample. The company made a profit of $15.71billion in 2015. Its audit score in 2016 was 0.00%. Its Green revenue was marked at 1.00% while its sustainability themed commitment was 0.00%. Its carbon productivity was 7.5% and a waste productivity of 8.80%. Looking at third sector; industrial sector, the General dynamics Corp can be a good sample.
