Intercultural Communication (Research Paper Sample)
The writer selected has to be very familiar with intercultural communication and the two books that are needed for sources.
Suppose you have been invited to give a lecture to a group of graduate students majoring in International Relations. The purpose of this lecture is
to provide these students with a broad overview of international
communication that includes the following information: (a) the state of the "global village" and a series of major technological, economic, and
political developments that have accelerated globalization over the last several decades; (b) the predominant role that the United States has played
in leading the globalization process; (c) the criticisms challenging the dominance of the United States and other "Global North" nations; and (d) the importance of understanding differing "mindsets" of people across societies as the United States seeks to maintain its global power and leadership in
the 21stcentury. Based on this scenario, write a tightly structured and well-integrated essay of 1500+ words, outlining and explaining the key ideas
you plan to address in your lecture. Utilize information from all relevant course readings, and make specific reference to at least three pertinent theories in support of your lecture ideas.

Fisher, G. (1997). Mindsets: The role of culture and perception in
international relations
I. Introduction
With the world becoming more of an interconnected village, it has become increasingly common to have foreign students and workers in one's community. Cultural diversity has become a conventional factor in our lives and we need to find ways to interact with other people.

Some communities may perceive conflict as a good thing while others still see it as an aspect that should be avoided at all costs. For example, in the USA, conflict is regarded as a bad thing. As such, we are advised to handle conflict directly to prevent it from escalating. However, Eastern countries perceive openly addressing conflict as embarrassing. Lack of comprehension of these cultural differences might lead to societies not co-existing freely. Therefore, we need to understand the culture of those we interact with. Transition: Now that I have discussed the scenario, I will make some inferences about the process of managing Intercultural communication.
The best way to prevent conflict due to intercultural difference and enable understanding each other is by finding a common language you can speak. Once you are able to communicate with each other, you can establish the different norms of cultures; that is, the 'dos' and the 'don'ts'. Having fully...
