One of the dominant themes that emerged from the ongoing trade war between the United States and China was the possibility of Vietnam filling the vacuum as an investment destination. The line of thinking anchors on the view that Vietnam is strategically positioned to take over from China as a preferred investment destination in case the trade wars escalate. The possibility of Vietnam replacing China is also established on the impression that the country has maintained stable relationships with the United States and the rest of the western world. Given Vietnam's improved relationship with the west, its fast-growing economy, and the recurrent tensions between China and the United States, there is a strong possibility of its eventual transformation into a new factory of the world.
Vietnam's improved relationships with the west shall enhance the prospects of becoming the new factory of the world. The past decades have witnessed the stabilization of Vietnam, the United States, and Western Europe (Chapman, 2017). The current state of the relationship between the countries creates opportunities for direct foreign investment. The United States and other Western powers that have maintained a commercial presence in China shall find it convenient to operate in Vietnam as a better alternative. Therefore, Vietnam’s stable relationship with the worst will promote
