The treaty is the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction. It prohibits chemical weapons and expects their destruction within a particular span of time. It aims to eradicate all categories of weapons of mass ruins by forbidding production, stockpiling, acquisition, transfer, retention or use of chemical weapons through state parties. Its preamble role is to destroy all obtainable chemical weapons under international authentication of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). It also observes chemical industry inhibit new weapons from re-occurring (Thakur et. al, 2006). It provides help and defense to States Parties against chemical pressures. It promotes international collaboration to reinforce the implementation of the Convention and support the serene use of chemistry.
The parties desire to contribute to the realization of the drives and values of the Charter of the United Nations. They evoke that the overall assembly of the United Nations has recurrently condemned all actions disagreeing to the principles and aims of the Protocol of the Use in War of Poisonous Gases and Bacteriological Methods of Warfare. They control for the interest of humanity to exclude the likelihood of the weapons through execution of the provisions of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC). The parties contemplate that accomplishments in the field of chemistry should be for the value of society. They aspire to support free trade in chemicals and international collaboration and exchange of technical and scientific data in the sector of chemical activities.
Any nation is free to join the treaty. The treaty already has 192 states-parties. They include countries like Syria, Colombia, Australia, Bahrain, and Brazil. The treaty mostly targets nations, which produce chemical weapons. To enter into the treaty, a nation producing, importing, consuming or exporting chemical weapons should conform to the legal requirements of the treaty. Any nation having the schedule 1 chemicals should have a license cover excluding export licenses. Import and export of Schedule 2 chemicals are prohibited but do not require any license cover. If any nation exports schedule 3 chemicals, they must obtain an end user certificate form that states a relation to the transported chemicals. The convention chose the requirements as to restrict nations from freely trading chemicals that will eventually cause damage to the globe.
