Incendiary Fire Analysis and Investigation
Summary
The consideration can be analyzed after understanding the concept of Pyrotechnics (United States, 1781). The concept of Pyrotechnics is regarded as the science of certain materials which has the capability to undergo self-contained. Even self-sustained chemical exothermic reactions which have the capability of producing heat, light, gas, smoke and sound. The primary term of the concept has a direct link with the term wire. It does not only entail the process of producing fireworks, but items such as safety matches, oxygen candles, explosive bolts, and fasteners. The station nightclub is considered to be among the fourth deadliest nightclub fires that had occurred in the state. It managed to kill around 100 people (Barylick, 2012). It emerged that it started at around 11:07 PM EST, and dated to occur on Thursday, February 20, 2003 at the particular station. The position is attributed to be a glam metal and rock and roll theme nightclub. The location of the club can be found at 211 Cowesett Avenue in West Warwick, Rhode Island. The exact cause of the wire is that the tour manager ignited the flammable sound insulation foam in the walls. A shorter duration of about 5.5 minutes made the club be engulfed. It is recorded that around 230 people were injured, and 132 escaped uninjured. The smoke produced during the it made an escape impossible. The building was a single story building structure made of wood frame structure covering an area of around 412 m2.
Building Construction Type
The building construction type illustrated in the case study is referred to Type III-B. The building construction type is constituted by the unprotected combustible type of construction analysis. The construction type is much more ordinary and is represented by the presence of block walls that had wooden roofs. The protection agency for the particular instances of fire is considered to be made in such a manner that does not protect the structure adequately against fire and its consequences. The building portrayed by the above scenario can be linked with the existence of structures that are evident in the warehouse districts of older cities. The structure represented a kind of structures that had no resistance on their frames (United States, 1781). The composition of their floors also did not depict the modern structure of the real picture of the set up to be used in preventing the occurrences described by the case study. It failed to provide any resistance to the exterior walls of the particular design scenario. The building construction type was not in a position to offer any resistance to the destruction caused by any fire damage. It cannot as any preventive measure in the process of destruction.
Source of Ignition
The horrific power that is considered to be one of the most tragedies occurring in the entire history of the England is worth recording and noting to depth. The occurrence was, in particular, recorded in the Station nightclub in West Warwick, Rhode Island. The tragedy started in the time when most of the clients were within the building, and the music was being played. It emerged when the heavy metal band Great whites set off the pyrotechnics that led to the ignition of the soundproofing foam on the club’s walls. The occurrence manages to spread within less than a minute. The flames managed to spread that fast and hundreds of people trying to find their way towards the exit. It managed to kill a good number of people and some others got injured in the process. Pyrotechnics is the primary cause of the ignition, and it is recorded that even in other parts of the world, it emerges to the same cause of major calamities involving fire outbreaks. The fire started when pyrotechnics that is believed to be set by tour manager that led to the start of the fire on the stage. They are considered to be gerbs, cylindrical devices that produced the spray sparks. The flanking gerbs is regarded as the principal cause of the fire (Brandt, 2006).
Source of Polyurethane Foam Panels
Some materials in the entire process can be easily recognized. In the whole process, the exact cause of the fire was not well stated, and the only point recorded was the needs for the exit. Other materials are disguised such as plastic wood sheathing and beams and imitation glass mirrors. Rigid foamed polyurethane is considered essential for use in the finishing process for most houses. When a consideration is made for any single fatal cause of fatal fire in most organizations, the material’s ignition propensity and flame spread emerges to be some of the contributing factors. The density, ignition temperature and heat of vaporization are some of the characteristics of the material that could be analyzed (United States, 1781).
