This Union was formed after the Romanov monarchy was overthrown and Russia emerged as the Soviet Union from the civil war in the year 1921 also known as Union of Soviet Socialist Republics(U.S.S.R). This Union had its roots in the Russian Revolution(1917). The radical revolutionaries overthrew Czar Nicholas II who was crown in 1894. U.S.S.R was the largest country in the world during this period which consisted of more than one hundred distinct nationalities("Soviet Union | History, Leaders, Map, & Facts", 2019). The majority of the country’s population was made up of East Slavs which consists of Russians, Belorussians and Ukranian’s. They made up more than two-thirds of the total population.
The Cold War
This was an open and restricted rivalry that came about after the Second World War between the United States of America and the Soviet Union together with their respective allies.
