Abstract
With the improvements to technology in creating convenience-based digital devices, there will be negative implications that come with such convenience such as the rise of social issues in society. The combination of technological improvements and advancements as well as the increased dysfunction of society became the developing point of cyberbullying, a prevalent combination of digital harassment. Cyberbullying is the byproduct of a virtual environment that does not protect one’s anonymity and easily becomes widespread in its influence – alarming even the governments and authorities of its consequences on people of all ages and statuses and thus being recognized on the same level of impact bullying and harassment has. This phenomenon has become one of the leading perpetrators in encouraging problematic social phenomena to emerge – especially particularly for children. In this paper, the evolution of technology and cyberbullying and the social impacts as well as the response to the crime of cyberbullying on children is explored.

Cyberbullying is a crime that happens on digital devices and has become a fairly common crime due to technological advancements in the modern world (stopbullying.gov, 2021). Some examples of acts that are considered cyberbullying are doxing, distributing photos and videos or any pieces of media that violate individual privacy, harassing, and other similar acts with the intention to create an unfavorable image of someone’s reputation and social image.
