Engagement in war has never born juicy fruits for the participants, any American present the two world wars would categorically vouch for the statement. At the end of World War 1, many Americans lost their loved ones in Europe in addition to the country facing an economic recession after the war. People lost their lives away from home, and there was nothing the people at home. The Congress in the country tried the best it could to ensure that the country would never again involve itself in European affairs that were likely to end in the country sending troops to fight in Europe. The nation had succeeded in so during until the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1942. A few weeks after the attack, the United States was deeply embroiled in the Second World War.
