During national campaigns, politicians transverse the country trying to persuade voters to support their political ideologies. However, the practice of moving physically to meet the constituents is gradually becoming an obsolete engagement process due to the emergence of the permanent campaigns and postmodern campaigning strategies (Freie 2015, p. 64). Under these frameworks, one can apply adopt technology to achieve the same publicity goals formerly derived by mobilizing political rallies. Modern communication channels coupled with obsession to hold public offices are significantly modifying the contemporary political landscape.
A country's political trajectory depends on a spectrum of external factors, such as regional governance, international political allies, and former colonial powers. Similarly, Australia, though a relatively old democracy is rapidly experiencing the "Americanization" of its political campaigns (Bradley, 2014). That means the state is significantly borrowing political practices from its American counterpart. Notably, Australia's national politics exhibit four major characteristics or recent developments.
First, personalized politics are increasingly replacing the mass rallies that have traditionally formed the bulk of campaign activities. In this case, political parties are actively sending custom messages to the electors in bids to win their support during the general election (Doolan 2009, p. 4-10). Second, there is a "scientificization" element that to suggest different professionals such as opinion masters and political analysts are gradually joining political parties to aid the leaders in aligning party goals.
