Causes of Construction Project Failures in KeRRA’s Meru Region
Abstract
Lately, completion of projects above their budget, below the expected quality and beyond the expected time of completion has been a common occurrence. This research project seeks to assess adoption of, or lack thereof, of three of the nine Project Management Body of Knowledge arears in the management of road construction projects in KeNHA Upper Northern Region. The key objectives of this study entail identifying the causes of delays in road construction projects in the KeNHA Upper Northern Region, examine the extent of severity of the delay causes and evaluate the agreement on the ranking of the severity of the causes of delay between contractors and consultants in the region. In order to attain these objectives, this research is on the basis of a survey designed to gather all necessary information in an effective way. The survey presents different delay causes generated on the basis of related research work on construction delay together with input, revision, and modifications by some construction parties.
