Malcolm X was not just famous for his eloquent speech, but mainly for what he stood for. He did fear been seen as been controversial in this speech but it was in the opinion of many African American’s that they were been oppressed. Race was a bigger issue for the black people. Malcolm in his speech had gone to the extent of seeing himself as not being an American. His issue was in the congress passing of the civil rights amendments. These same politicians will be knocking on their streets come elections time. Here, we learnt that the African American race had played a significant part in putting the current government in to the Whitehouse.
How did Malcolm X and other civil rights activist achieve their view of a free American for the African Americans?
By the year 1964, African American was in large numbers (estimated at 22 million). The once marginalized population was politically waking up. Malcolm attributes this to being politically mature. Through using their freedom of expression and association, they met and articulated their views through the appropriate forums. It was disappointing for Malcolm that immigrant from Europe had been accepted as Americans, while they were still far away from being Americans. This can be viewed when he and his brothers are segregated socially from the others race. In the long run, their dream was achieved through peaceful means.
Does Rodolfo Gonzales represent the views of his people?
Rodolfo like any other great men does not lack an opinion when it mattered. This can be seen when he said that by looking at himself and his brothers, the only thing he can do is shed tears of sorrow. This has led him to sowing seeds of hatred. Even through the troubling times with his people, he does not lose his pride and nobleness. In the least, he still sees himself as the prince and leader of his people. In the end, his empire will stand civilization through those troubling times.
Is the author delusional on his views or sincere in sharing his people pain?
It is without any doubt that the author shares his people pain. He tries to inspire his people while wishing them a better life. He encourages them to farm the fertile lands and the barren plains while still believing that the impossible will be possible if they only belief and work harder. The reader needs to understand that Rodolfo does not hold his tears when he sees his people in pain. He encourages them to turn into their religion hoping that in the end they will endure.
