Analysis of the electoral process that made Trump the president reveal that one of the predictors of Trump’s voters was racial identity, the analysis would say that Trump adopted a method that clearly positioned him as white supremacists. In my opinion, while many continue to see Trump’s win over Hillary’s bid for the presidency as a product of the old republican style of using the ideology of using identity politics, both parties on are not far from identity politics. If anything, Trump approach find root in William Buckley intellectual architecture that focused on free markets and social conservatism. If anything, both republicans and democrats can only succeed in the racially charged environment, largely, Democrat politics is just fueled by white identity politics just as the Republicans. In essence, in the same way, that Republican voters are motivated by their conservatism interests, so do democrat voters motivated by hate for white supremacy. Thus, the election results borrow from identity politics far deeper than the Donald Trump’s ideologies. Race-motivated voting continues to be a serious part of the US political system, racist candidates often tend to side with the candidate with whom they share close connection, the same can be seen in the division of votes between Hillary Clinton and Barrack Obama. Even within the democrat voting style, race plays a role. Statistics reveal those who score highly on racial-resentment were most likely voting for Hillary Clinton during the 2008 Republican primaries when she ran against Barrack Obama, on the same note, Obama garnered most votes from the non-white community. It follows that the 2016 election followed a path that had already been laid by the political history. In 2016 when Hillary Clinton ran against Bernie Sanders; voter with higher-racial resentment would prefer to vote for Donald Trump.
