5. ORGANIZATION PLAN
5.1 Job analysis
The form of business for our pizza store is a partnership. All partners play a role in the management and running of the day to day activities of the enterprise. The partners have agreed on a leadership and management structure that incorporates all their skills and abilities. Since this is not a large store, we will have a lean management team to allow smooth decision making and efficiency in operation. Due to his educational and professional background, Huadong Zhang is the Business and Financial Manager. His primary program is financial planning in Seneca College. He will handle controlling the finances for the business and ensuring we meet all our financial obligations in a timely and sustainable manner. The investments and financial risk plans for the local store fall under this docket. Further, he will also control the stores and record keeping departments. In the storage section, he will ensure that all required products are delivered and in time, and their due payments made. Another important management position is that of the Marketing manager held by Kim Wu. Kim will handle the creation of awareness for our new brand. Kim majors in marketing and also has some experience in marketing for several companies. Being head of the marketing team, he will come up with drives and approaches aimed at increasing our customer base and gaining a competitive advantage over other players in the local sector. The local store’s strategic marketing plan will be formulated based on Kim’s analysis of the market and the financial capacity of the entity. I have been selected to be head of the operations department. In this position, I will ensure that all functions of the business run smoothly. Also, I will handle recruitment of staff members into the store. The selected personnel do not require relevant experience. What we are looking for is a team of motivated individuals that are willing to challenge themselves and take the store to the next level (rochester.edu 1). Being that this will be their full-time job, we will engage the recruited staff members in training programs to familiarize them with the hospitality field. In the management of the cost of recruitment, only two of our kitchen staff will be required to have experience in the hospitality field. The two will be head of the kitchen departments and also provide necessary training and supervision to new recruits.
The cashier will be charged with receiving, disbursing and banking of all money that comes into and out of the store. For one qualify for the position, they will require accounting education and experience is not necessary. The chefs are the kitchen staff that will prepare pizza for our customers. Because they are under one highly qualified and experienced supervisor, subordinate cooks do not need any experience as they will be trained and guided on the job as they work. The waiters are the table attendants that get and act on customer orders. These positions will be for individuals that have excellent interpersonal skills. They also require being neat and very outgoing. The receptionist for the business will cater for taking inquiries and other communications for the local store. This person needs secretarial, and communications training to enable them handle their job properly. Other positions are security and storekeepers. These individuals will be appointed based on their education level and experience in similar posts. All employees cater for the success of the business. Thus, they are required to work together as a team and meet all of our customer needs in a timely and friendly manner. The sole focus of the business and the employees will at all time be the gratification of our clients.
5.2 Organizational Chart

These are a set of beliefs and practices that govern the behavior and interactions within an organization (Flamholtz and Randle 3). Some of the primary values for Uncle Wang’s Pizza are quality and warmness. All our interactions within the store and with our customers are expected to be of the greatest standard. These get attained through respect and efficiency in our relationships. The employees are expected to, maintain a friendly working environment and transfer the same to our clients. Our practices are set to be goal oriented. All activities focus on the attainment of our established mission and vision. For this to work, the culture of Wang’s Pizza has to be internally driven. Our behaviors and values focus on the situation in Uncle Wang’s Pizza without consideration to the external factors. This approach is in our aim to cut a niche in the hospitality market as a distinctive service provider.
Strict work ethic is among our primary focuses. As such, we will strive to ensure that all work procedures and standards get observed keenly. However, we also have room for innovation within our staff provided it serves towards the satisfaction of our customers. All staff members are an important aspect of our business. Thus, the employees’ welfare will be looked after to ensure there are marginal inconsistencies in their performance. The defined leadership style adopted aims at making there is smooth top-bottom and bottom-up communication. It also clearly outlines the role played by every respective employee to avoid potential work conflicts that may arise from lack of work differentiation.
5.3 Human Resources Management plan
5.3.1 Recruitment
To enable the store acquire best employees, we will place advertisements in local dailies for all our operational level positions. Since we do not require much experience in this field, we will prefer fresh graduates who can bring in new ideas and also have a manageable payroll for the business. Further, we will engage a local recruitment firm to recommend possible candidates for all our open positions based on their professional evaluation of their database. Due to the dynamic demands of the foods sector, we will only hire people aged between 18 – 40 years.
5.3.2 Selection
All interested candidates will attend an interview. The aim of the interrogation is to evaluate the qualifications and skills of the applicants (Mathis and Jackson 82-92). After the interviews, the partners will deliberate and pick individuals that will show the best match of education, skills and experience with Uncle Wang’s Pizza. In the selection process, we will seek to strike a demographical balance so as to have equality in terms of religion, gender and age.
5.3.3 Training and development
Training and development form an important basis for human resource capacity building (Wilson 515). Our employees will be on a continuous cycle of internal and external training and development activities. The aim of these drives is to ensure that we eventually have the best skilled and all-around human beings working for Uncle Wang’s Pizza. The first training activities will be conducted immediately after selection to familiarize the staff members with our new operating environment, the leadership structures and impart into them the necessary knowledge before involvement in production activities. This orientation will be followed up by other professional and development training programs that will equip the staff members with the latest hospitality and life skills.
5.3.4 Performance appraisal
A job evaluation exercise will be carried out on an annual basis. The aim of this exercise is to match individual and team performance with their work descriptions and set business goals (Axson 25). Promotion and firing will be on the outcome of the appraisal activity. On a short-term basis, there will be monthly meetings to set and review performance targets. Department heads will present reports on the performance of the respective sections and bring forward suggestions that might improve the performance of the Uncle Wang’s Pizza. After the training activities, there will be tests to check for the benefits of the exercise. These tests will be both theoretical and practical. Top performers in training, the monthly and annual evaluation will get rewards.
