Problem Statement
Students from East Baton Rouge and Orleans Parish school districts’ discipline has been an issue of concern to stakeholders in education for quite some time for the last decade and has drawn the attention of different stakeholders in the states including parents, the government, educational bodies or teachers thus the connection between the discipline policies for the schools and their effectiveness in ensuring that the students discipline is attained (Wilborn, 2019). According to the Louisiana Compilation of School Discipline Laws and Regulations (2019), there are set discipline related rules that regulate the US states and the education agencies.
According to Gordon (2018), the policies have been compromised and disparities exist in the suspension or expulsion to punish students and some ethnic groups or students with disabilities are vulnerable. Inadequate research has been carried out to explore this relationship, their mode of implementation and their effect on the safety of the students plus their performance, which has been a major problem in the charter schools in the region.
