Level of Water in a Dam
This report presents a model of changing level of water in a dam. Minimum level of water in the dam is taken as h=0 and maximum level is given by hmax. Level of water in the dam is determined by rainfall in the catchment area, evaporation and water uses. It increases when rain falls and decreases. The model ignores losses due to leakage and seepage. The ideal profile of the dam is given by Figure 1 below.

Cross-sectional Area and Level of Water
Relationship between water volume and level is analyzed in this report. Surface area of water in the dam A is determined as function of water level (height) given by h. From this relationship, it is therefore noted that the area varies from 0 to Amax when h increases from 0 to hmax.
