Personal Evaluation Based on the DiSC Results
The analysis of the characteristics of Taliea Betz using the DiSC model indicated that the person exhibited the steady personality behavior. The type of behavior was described as having critical strengths that can be tapped to improve the personal participation and performance in the team work. One of the strengths of the steady persons was the ability to rally and unit others. The anility was a critical need to working together as a team. The type of people loved security in numbers and was good at listening and offering counseling to others. The traits can be used to improve the teams` interpersonal relationships and resolve conflicts. However, the persons were slow in making decisions and taking actions. In addition, the persons feared and were wary of changes in their organization and in their lives. The behavior needed to be improved for their effective team work (UoPX. Assessment.Ws, 2016, p. 19).
The analysis of the behavior trait and characteristics of Ricky indicated that he was an interactive person. The interactive behavior trait had critical aspects necessary for the team development and working. The interactive person had the tendency of wanting to work with others as the team. The interactive person identified the need for the completion of the personal and the group tasks and held the position of good results or nothing. The interactive people were open to negotiations and involvement of every person in the decision-making processes. However, the persons had behavior traits that would influence the performance of the team negatively. The type of people had short attention that was manifested by lack of following through and omission of details. They are also disorganized and have the tendency to exaggerate (UoPX. Assessment.Ws, 2016, p. 19). The negative behavior traits need to be improved for the effective performance and participation in the team.
The leader of the group was a person that was open to criticism, preferred promotion of the personal relations and values at the expense of the ethical, professional legal and social compliance. The person was depicted to be a highly focused person that employed his personal nature and charisma to motivate and transform the team. The leader was inclined on employing the democratic leadership style although the actual demonstrated leadership behavior was more of participative than that of democratic approach. In most of the situations, the leader played a detached role and allowed the team members to make and effect their decisions. The design was aimed to improve the independence and efficiency of the team (Ayoko & Chua, 2014). However, the independent decisions made by the team lacked the linking factor that could have defined the team.
Characteristics of the Team Based on Personal Analysis
Based on the personal analysis of every team member, the team had a common purpose. The leader of the team had indicated the purpose of the team that every member was to work toward accomplishing. The team had the detached and participatory leadership. The team leader was directly involved in some of the teams` activities and had personal duties and responsibilities to perform. However, in most of the cases, he played a detached role and allowed the members to make and effect decisions. The team lacked the ability to follow through their goals owing to the character of the members and the type of leadership. The members of the team lacked the motivation and the ability to follow through their goals while the focused leader practiced detached leadership style (Lencioni, 2002).
Development Plan for Individual Members
Betz demonstrated a steady personal behavior and team characteristics. The critical team player and participation challenges demonstrated by the steady persons were their slowness in decision making and action steps. The persons avoided and were afraid of changing work and personal life environments. The persons lack the ability to prioritize, plan and follow through. Following the analysis, the person will need to develop his response to the external changes in the effective and timely decision making process. The person will need to increase their participation in the team by voicing their opinion and learn that changes are inevitable in the organization. Ricky was an interactive person that had critical challenges in the following through, setting team`s goals, working in collaboration with others, as well as being a conservative. The person will need to improve his ability to follow through plans by learning to set long and short term goals and making strategic changes in between aimed to attain the long term goal (Colombini & McBride, 2012).
